- ½ cup yellow onion (very finely minced)

- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 yellow onions (sliced into ¾ inch strings)
- 3 Tablespoons cold unsalted butter (divided)
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 ½ teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
- ¼ cup cold water
- 3 tablespoons corn starch
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, very finely minced yellow onion, yellow mustard, Worcestershire sauce, minced garlic, shredded frozen butter, salt, and pepper. Gently mix until just combined and shape into four equal patties.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat until hot.
- Carefully add hamburger patties to the skillet and cook for 4 to 5 minutes on each side until nicely browned and fully cooked through.
- Remove the patties from the skillet and set aside on a plate.
- Add sliced yellow onions to the same skillet and cook slowly, stirring often, until soft and caramelized.
- Stir in cold unsalted butter until melted and glossy.
- Pour in chicken broth and beef broth; bring to a gentle simmer.
- Add onion powder, garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper; adjust seasoning to taste.
- In a small bowl, whisk cold water and corn starch until smooth to make a slurry.
- Slowly whisk the slurry into the simmering gravy while stirring constantly until it thickens.
- Return hamburger patties to the skillet, nestle into the gravy, and simmer for a few minutes to reheat and meld flavors. Serve hot.
