Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb fresh mushrooms, sliced
- 3 tbsp butter
- 3/4 tsp seasoning salt
- 2 tbsp whipping cream
- 1 tsp dried parsley
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 3/4 cup grated mozzarella cheese
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×9-inch (or similar) baking dish.
- Melt butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat until foamy.
- Add sliced mushrooms and cook 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they release their juices and turn golden brown.
- Season mushrooms with seasoning salt and black pepper.
- Pour in whipping cream and sprinkle in dried parsley, stir, and simmer about 2 minutes until slightly thickened.
- Transfer the mushroom mixture to the prepared baking dish and spread into an even layer.
- Evenly sprinkle grated mozzarella over the mushrooms to cover.
- Bake uncovered 15–20 minutes until the cheese is melted and golden brown; optionally broil for about 1 minute at the end, watching closely to avoid burning.
- Let the bake rest about 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
Mix different mushroom varieties (cremini, button, shiitake) for deeper flavor and texture., Cook mushrooms in batches to brown rather than steam., Bring cream to room temperature before adding to hot mushrooms to prevent curdling., Reserve about 1/4 cup mozzarella to add during last 5 minutes of baking for a bubbly crust., Rest dish 5 minutes after baking for sauce to thicken to perfect consistency.
